Policy 167:  Academic Consideration for Fall 2022- Covid-19:Update

Students who miss an assessment due to cold or flu-like symptoms, or due to self-isolation, are required to provide a health certificate. All absences must follow Senate PDF file Policy 167: Academic Consideration. 

Also NOTE:  Policy 167: Academic Consideration does allow for a once per term academic consideration request without supporting documentation if the absence is less than 3 days in duration and is not for a final exam/final assessment. If the absence is more than 3 days in duration and/or is for a final exam/final assessment, documentation is required. Academic Appeals 

 

All Faculties within the University 

All department, Faculty and Senate level academic appeals for grade and standing, must be submitted via the online Academic Appeals system portal found here .

Appeals for Academic Misconduct and Non-Academic conduct should be submitted via email to senate@ryerson.ca

Appeals of timespan, where an extension is denied by the Dean (or designate) or the Program Director, or where additional extension is needed after the Dean’s approved timespan extension is completed,  may be appealed directly to the Senate Appeals Committee for a final consideration of their request at  senate@ryerson.ca  (see Policy 170(a), Section 9.3 and Procedures 13).

Within 10 business days of receipt of a Faculty level grade/standing appeal decision.

 

 

 

 

Students must append their Senate-level appeal to their previous Faculty level-appeal via the on-line appeals portal. 

All Senate level appeals must include any documents submitted at all previous levels, all decision letters, all evidence, and a letter to the Senate Appeals Committee that clearly outlines where the decision made by the Dean and Chair/Director are in dispute.

NON-ACADEMIC CONDUCT APPEAL FORMS


When do I submit my Appeal? Where do I submit my Appeal?  

For appealing:

Policy 61: Code of Non-Academic Conduct decisions rendered by the Student Conduct Officer, OR;

Decisions rendered by the Executive Director, Student Affairs, or the Vice-Provost, Students, where the assigned sanctions do not include Restitution over $500, De-enrollment, Limitations to Future Enrollment, NDS, NDW, or Expulsion

 

Non-Academic Conduct appeals of findings and/or sanctions must be submitted within ten (10) business days of the decision letter being issues.

 

Appeals of the extension of the interim measure of suspension can be submitted any time after the suspension has been extended beyond the initial ten (10) business days.

Please submit the completed form and required documents to policy61appeals@ryerson.ca to be reviewed by the Executive Director, Student Affairs the Vice-Provost, Students, or their designate.
